Popular singer, film director and producer Zubeen Garg's new movie Kanchanjangha is scheduled to be released in theatres in January next year.
Mission China, the singers last suspense movie had
created a storm at the box-office last year. After its huge success, he has
taken another bold step to make another film. The title of the film has been
taken from a poem of Assamese cultural doyen as well as freedom fighter
Rupkonwer Jyoti Prasad Agarwalla.
Zubeen, who is presently in
Jakarta cheering for the six Asian Games participants from
Assam including sprinter
Hima Das, informed an Assamese news channel that his new film is all set to be releases
on the day of the upcoming
Shilpi Divas, ie 17 January.
Shilpi Divas is observed to mark the death anniversary of
cultural doyen Rupkonwer Jyoti Prasad Agarwalla.
It is a story of four youths.
The name of the film is taken from a poem of Rupkonwer. Our preparation is
afoot, said the new generations heart throb. Rupkonwer had made Joymoti, the
first Assamese film in 1935.
Zubeen said that the film would be released in Tezpur and Nagaon
simultaneously. The famous singer hopes that his film Kanchanjangha would
get support from the Assamese movie-goers just like his previous venture.
Zubeen, a trendsetter in the field of Assamese
modern song, has received wide acclamations within and outside the state. After
the Bard of Brahmaputra Dr Bhupen Hazarika, Zubeen is seen as the most popular
singer of the state. He has once also worked in a Bollywood project.
