Pro Kabaddi League 2017 Match Preview: Experienced Titans vs debutant Thalaivas
The wait is finally over for the Kabaddi fans! After four successful seasons, the franchise-based League is all set to welcome the fifth edition of the Pro Kabaddi League in Hyderabad on Friday.

The opening ceremony of the Pro Kabaddi League season 5 promises to be a star studded event which will be attended by many celebrities including film personalities. Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar will be singing the national anthem before the start of the first match of this season, the organisers have informed in their release.

In the first league match of this tournament, two teams of Zone-B from southern states - ‘Telugu Titans’ and ‘Tamil Thalaivas’ will clash at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad.

Telugu Titans will be captained by Rahul Chaudhari, who has been retained from last season. The Titans will take on the debutants Tamil Thalaivas. As compared to the Thalaivas, the Titans are relatively more experienced.

In fact, Telugu Titans have been by far the strongest team of the League having scored the maximum raid points. What’s even more interesting in that Titans’ skipper Rahul Chaudhri has the maximum raid points (482) in PKL history.

However, despite being a young and inexperienced team, Thalaivas have an experienced Ajay Thakur as their captain. Thakur had been the star player and played a key role in India clinching the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup.

On the other hand, Telugu Titans’ skipper Chaudhari and his brigade would not like to take the opposition lightly in the opening match. While, this would be a real test for the Thalaivas to prove their talent against an experienced team.

Having said that, the Telugu Titans too have made their share of mistakes in the last four seasons of the League and been inconsistent. While the Titans have finished fifth in two seasons, in the other two they made it to the playoffs, including in the last season.
