Currently, India-Pakistan relations are passing through a rough patch. Pakistan read Pakistan Army is hell bent on destabilising the India-Pakistan international border and 786 km-long LOC in Kashmir. It is infiltrating its sponsored jehadis, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad and Hizbul Mujahedeen from its soil into Kashmir. The heads of these terror outfits like Hafiz Saeed, the master mind of Mumbai 26/11, are roaming free in Pakistan and organising rallies. In general elections of 2018 in Pakistan, 1506 jehadis from these radical organisations were candidates thanks to Pakistani Army. So when Imran Khan says he will instil friendly relations with India and give importance to commerce and trade with India it is nothing but crap.
In his speech to the nation, Talibani Khan said if India takes one friendly step towards Pakistan he will take two. It is not India who has to take a friendly step towards Pakistan, India has already taken many. The initiation must come from Pakistan it wants dialogue with India to resume. All Pakistan has to do is to eschew its policy of state sponsored jehadis whom Pakistan calls non-state actors like L-e-T and Jaish-e-Mohammad. Pakistani Army should stop training them and destroy their 42 jehadi camps in Pakistani side of the border. Arrest and punish Hafiz Saeed, a UN declared jehadi and Maulana Masood Azhar, another UN declared terrorist. Will Imran Khan dare to do it and annoy the Pakistan Army? The truth is that the Talibani Khan has no such powers. Foreign policy with India and Afghanistan is decided only and only by the Pakistani Army. The civilian government of Pakistan is just a facade with no powers. Leave aside two steps, the Pakistan Army will not allow Talibani Khan even to take half a step towards India.
Pakistani intellectuals and strategic experts themselves are saying that the Talibani Khan may be saying that he is a man with open mind, nevertheless his radical Islamic leanings, political nearness with Pakistani Army, will ensure that he will not be able to reduce political interference of Pakistani Army.
Twenty billion dollar worth of Pakistan Armys business in Pakistan, read Ayesha Siddiqa book Military Incorporation; the militarys good reputation in Pakistani society; its Generals amassing huge wealth including owning huge bungalows and land in Pakistan, are all direct results of strained relations with India. This Army will never allow good relations with India, come what may. So this talk of one step, two steps is meaningless and India should never accept it. Desire of the Pakistan Army is that Pakistan continues with cross border terrorism along with talks with India side by side. This should never be acceptable to India.
If Pakistan genuinely wants talks then it has to stop cross border terrorism. Also one should not forget that puppet Talibani Khan is already speaking language of Pakistani Army by saying that Kashmir is the core issue which must be resolved as per UN resolutions when UN itself says that after 72 years this resolution cannot be enacted.
