Muzaffarpur shelter home case: Bihar's Social Welfare Minister Manju Verma resigns
Bihar's Social Welfare Minister Manju Verma resigned from her post and position of a Cabinet Minister on Wednesday. Manju Verma submitted her resignation after a personal meeting with CM Nitish Kumar.

It is being told that Manju Verma's husband Chandrashekhar Verma is involved in the Muzaffarpur Balika Grih case. The opposition had been constantly demanding Verma’s resignation. 

The CBI had disclosed that Manju Verma's husband, Chandrasekhar Verma, was one of the accused in the case of sexual harassment of 34 minor girls and was in constant touch with Brajesh Thakur, the main accused. 

Playing the caste card, Verma had even alleged that she was being targeted as she represented the Kushwaha community.

Manju Verma was the only woman minister in the current Bihar government.

8 August 2018:

Social Welfare Minister Manju Verma resigns from her post. 

7 August 2018:

CBI files a report of Service Resolutions and Development Committee and also calls for the mobile call records of the 11 accused in the case. The Social Welfare Department summoned the report of the officers who were posted during the five years.

5 August 2018:

13 officers including assistant director of the Social Welfare Department are suspended.

4 August 2018:

RJD leaders protest in Delhi. In this protest, Delhi's CM Arvind Kejriwal and Congress President Rahul Gandhi were also present.

2 August 2018:

The CBI team suddenly reaches the secretariat office of the Social Welfare Department regarding the Muzaffarpur girl child sexual abuse case. Principal Secretary of Social Welfare Department Atul Prasad hands over all related papers to the CBI.

31 July 2018:

CBI questions girls who were shifted from Muzaffarpur to Madhubani and Patna.

30 July 2018: 

After taking charge of the case of sexual harassment by the CBI team, the CBI team examines the girl's premises on Monday evening.

29 July 2018:

The CBI files a lawsuit against the accused officials and employees.

28 July 2018: 

Muzaffarpur Girls' Home Improvement Affair confirms rape in 34 cases.

26 July 2018: 

Bihar government recommends investigation of sexual harassment of girls in Muzaffarpur girls' home by the CBI.

26 July 2018: 

Leaders of opposition parties reach Muzaffarpur and demanded a CBI inquiry.

24 July 2018: 

In Lok Sabha, Home Minister Rajnath Singh says that if the Bihar government wants, we are ready for a CBI inquiry.

23 July 2018:

The land is excavated in the premises of Muzaffarpur Balika Grih but no remains of dead bodies are found.

20 July 2018: 

Posco Court orders for digging of land for discovery of dead children in the girl's shelter home.

19 July 2018: 

A girl in Patna gives a statement that a minor girl was murdered after being raped in the girl home.

09 July 2018:

The Patna High Court asks the Bihar government to respond.

03 July 2018:

A petition is filed in the High Court for a CBI probe.

27 June 2018:

Police arrest Muzaffarpur Child Protection Officer Ravi Roshan.

25 June 2018: 

The statements of 22 girls are filed in the court. The girls depose before the court that they were drugged.

15 June 2018:

Two officers of social welfare posted in Muzaffarpur district are suspended.

03 June 2018: 

Eight people including the guardian of the girl's house and the main accused, Brajesh Thakur, are arrested.

02 June 2018:

The police launch an inquiry into the allegations against the main accused and director of the girl's house, Brajesh Thakur, including the eight people linked to the NGO in the police station and the girl's house is sealed.

31 May 2018:

The Muzaffarpur girl's house is vacated and the girls are shifted to Patna and Madhubani. An FIR is also lodged.

26 May 2018:

Report of the Tata Institute of Social Science reaches the Director of Social Welfare Department.
