Karan Johar all set to direct his new film 'Takht' starring Ali Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Janhvi Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor
Karan Johar is all geared up with his new directorial venture. The film is titled, Takht, which has a huge star cast.

The galaxy of stars includes, Janhvi Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal.

Karan Johar has come up with an ensemble of the biggest stars from Bollywood to tell a story. It is also revealed that Alia Bhatt will be in a lead role. The compelling plot revolves around two brothers. Karan had earlier wanted to cast Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh as brothers, but Ranbir turned it down. The sources say that Vicky Kaushal has now been roped in to play the role of Ranveer’s younger brother.

Karan, while announcing the big news, shared a poster of the film. The film as the name suggests (Takht) is a drama set during the Mughal era.

The lead characters who will play the roles in the film are Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Alia Bhatt. They will be supported by Bhumi Pednekar, Anil Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.

The audience would be keen upon seeing the chemistry between uncle and niece, Anil Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor. Takht would be Jhanvi‘s second film. The new kid on block has managed to grab reasonable attention with her first film Dhadak which did fairly well at the box office.

Karan Johar took to Twitter to make his big announcement. He wrote, “An incredible story embedded in history... An epic battle for the majestic Mughal throne... A story of a family, of ambition, of greed, of betrayal, of love & of succession... TAKHT is about WAR for LOVE....”

The film will be written by Sumit Roy who would also collaborate with Hussain Haidry to pen the dialogues. Karan has been generous enough to give much deserved credit to his writers by mentioning their names.

The film seems to interweave a magic tale as the tweet suggests. Set in the Mughal era, it primarily deals with emotions -love, ambition, greed and betrayal.

Alia Bhatt tweeted: “Back where I begun.. to my roots! So so so so excited to be a part of this historical magnum opus! TAKHT! Directed by the one and ONLY! @karanjohar @RanveerOfficial #KareenaKapoorKhan @vickykaushal09 @psbhumi #JanhviKapoor @AnilKapoor @DharmaMovies @apoorvamehta18.”
