He was known for his discourses termed Kadve Pravachan which have also been compiled and serially published. He was followed by the believers of Jainism and Hinduism since discourses were more related to humanism and societal issues.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi mourned the passing of Muni Tarun Sagar and tweeted, "Deeply pained by the untimely demise of Muni Tarun Sagar Ji Maharaj. We will always remember him for his rich ideals, compassion and contribution to society. His noble teachings will continue inspiring people. My thoughts are with the Jain community and his countless disciples."

One may recall that when Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he had presented the Tarun Kranti Puraskar to the Muni.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal also condoled Tarun Sagar's demise and tweeted, "Pained to hear the sad demise of Muni Tarun Sagar Ji Maharaj. His teachings and ideals will always inspire humanity."

One may also recall that he had opposed Rajasthan High Court's order of banning Santhara in 2015. Santhara is a Jain ritual of voluntary and systematic fasting to death. However, it was viewed as punishable act under section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code. Much to his relief, the ban was later lifted by the Supreme Court of India.

According to Jainism, soul is eternal and never dies, while function of matter or the physical termed 'pudgala' is to contribute to pleasure, suffering, life and death of living beings. The Jain scriptures mention that there are 17 different types of death.

The most auspicious death is called 'Sakama Marana' which 'refers to someone who is not afraid of death and who accepts it willingly and at ease'. The Jain wisdom informs that humans need to understand that there is no way to escape death and calmly view death as a natural process.
