CRPF constable on leave gunned down by unidentified militants in south Kashmir's Pulwama; yet another attack based on a set pattern
Unidentified militants barged into the house of a local CRPF constable Naseer Ahmed Rather, who was on leave, on Sunday, in the Naira area of Pulwama in south Kashmir and fired at him, the police said.

Rather, who received critical bullet injuries was immediately rushed to the district hospital Pulwama but could not sustain his injuries and died.

The area has been cordoned off and a massive manhunt is on to nab Rather's assailants. A police official said that a case had been registered into the incident.

Rather was posted with a CRPF battalion in the district and was at home on leave.

This latest attack forms part of a series of attacks on Indian security forces by militants in the Kashmir Valley. There's even a clear cut pattern in such attacks as only those security personnel are being targetted, who are, firstly, vulnerable due to being on leave, and secondly, who belong to a particular faith. Also, a majority of these attacks have taken place in south Kashmir.

The message is clear from Pakistan-funded terror outfits, “if you are a Kashmiri Muslim serving the Indian security forces, you would have to take a bullet”.

However, unfortunately, the government of the day has been unable to put a check to such attacks on our jawans in the Kashmir Valley.

On July 21, constable Mohammad Saleem Shah, who was also on leave, was abducted from his home in Mutalhama area of Kulgam in south Kashmir by terrorists and later killed.

On July 6, policeman Javaid Dar's body was found in Kulgam. Dar had earlier been abducted by terrorists.

Earlier, on June 14, the bullet-ridden body of Indian Army soldier Aurangzeb was found at Pulwama. Aurangzeb, a resident of Kashmir's Poonch district, was abducted by militants in broad daylight from south Kashmir's Pulwama, when he was travelling to his hometown on leave.
